The smell of the oats simmering, the steam rising from the bowl, and the endless topping possibilities, makes oatmeal the perfect way to start a fall day.

Ingredients:
Makes 1 serving
- 1/2 c. oatmeal
- 1 c. water
- salt, sprinkle
- handful walnuts, chopped
- 1/2 persimmon
- coconut flakes, sprinkle
- cinnamon, sprinkle
- nutmeg, sprinkle
Directions:
1. Cook oats: Add oatmeal and water into a small pot, sprinkle in some salt. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer. Cook for 5-8 minutes, depending on how cooked you like your oats.
2. Prep: While the oats are cooking, chop your walnuts, rinse and chop your persimmon, take out coconut flakes, cinnamon and nutmeg.
3. Assemble: Pour oatmeal into your favorite bowl, then add in your walnuts and persimmon. Mix well, then top with coconut flakes, cinnamon and nutmeg.
